Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how Annotate PDF handles information when you use the extension and its website. Annotate PDF lets you open a local PDF, add annotations, and export or print the result. No account is required.
1. Your PDFs and local storage
The extension processes only PDF files you choose to open. Viewing, annotating, exporting and preparing PDFs for printing happen on your device. We do not upload your PDF contents, filenames or annotations to our servers or send them to third parties.
To help you continue your work, the extension saves a local recovery copy of your current PDF, its filename, annotations, unfinished edits, editor position and preferences in your browser’s local storage (IndexedDB). This information can remain between sessions; it is not synced to a cloud account.
Successfully opening a different PDF replaces the previous locally saved document. Preferences may remain until cleared. Exported PDF files remain wherever you saved them.
2. Browser access and permissions
The current extension requests no additional extension permissions or access to websites you visit. It does not collect visited URLs, domains, page titles or browsing history, and it does not read or modify the contents of your web pages.
The extension opens or focuses its own editor tab and opens a welcome page after installation. It may also open a locally generated PDF for printing. These operations do not require the tabs permission and do not involve collecting information about websites you browse.
3. No tracking; website and support
The extension has no usage analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or automatic diagnostic reporting. It does not send usage events or collect website domains. We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Our website, including the welcome and policy pages, does not include analytics or advertising scripts. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Opening a page sends a normal website request to Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver and protect the site. The extension does not attach PDF contents, filenames or annotations to these visits. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to handle your request. No document or browsing information is automatically attached by the extension.
4. Your choices, changes and contact
You control which PDFs you open, save and share. You can clear locally stored extension data using your browser’s storage tools, delete exported files yourself, or uninstall the extension. Clearing extension data does not delete PDFs you have exported.
If our data practices change, we will update this policy and provide any additional notice or obtain consent required by applicable law.
